TAA-2026

The Department of Applied Sciences, Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A), is organising a workshop on Training in Algebra and Analysis from June 15, 2026, to June 17, 2026. The main aim of this training program is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental concepts, structures, and applications of algebra and analysis through a series of structured lectures, interactive discussions, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. We will focus on enhancing students' ability to construct and present rigorous mathematical proofs, use theoretical knowledge in problem-solving, foster a collaborative learning environment to encourage peer-to-peer learning, and prepare them for competitive exams such as JAM, NET, GATE, and NBHM Fellowship.

Topics to be covered in this workshop

* Abstract Algebra: Group, Action of group, Group Automorphism, Classification of finite abelian groups, Ring, Polynomial rings and irreducibility criteria, Field, Finite fields, Field extensions.

* Linear Algebra: Vector space, Algebra of Linear maps, Diagonalization, Matrix representation of linear map, Jordan canonical form, Inner product spaces, Orthogonal bases.

> * Analysis: Real number system, Power series, Continuity, Differentiability, Functions of several variables, Derivative as a linear transformation, Inverse and implicit function theorems.
